St Mary River Adventure Lodge - British Columbia, Canada

BC Wilderness Adventures

Owned and operated by Calamity Creek Outfitters, we are located in the Purcell Mountains of south eastern British Columbia. We are a locally owned adventure company dedicated to providing first class service and accommodations to clients seeking summer and winter back country wilderness experiences. The lodge is located steps from the St. Mary River. Our End of the Road Camp is located minutes from the trail head into the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy and our Hot Springs Camp is a short hike to Dewar Creek Hot Springs. The St. Mary River is a pristine scenic river and one of the premier wild cutthroat trout streams in all of North America.

Our adventure area is accessed via Cranbrook or Kimberley, British Columbia. Daily flights from Calgary and Vancouver International Airports connect to Cranbrook. Clients may also travel by vehicle to Cranbrook through AB, MT, WA, or ID. Calgary is approximately 4.5 hours. Kalispel, MT and Spokane, WA both have airports that are serviced daily from most US centers. Approximate drive times are 2.5 hours from Kalispel and 3.5 hours from Spokane.

A significant portion of our licenced commercial recreation area is located in the world famous Purcell Wilderness Conservancy. The Conservancy boasts true pristine wilderness, restricted by the BC government to non-motorized access, and is protected from industrial and recreational development. Inside the Conservancy we travel by horseback, hiking, and skis. Outside the conservancy, in addition to horse and foot travel, we also have motorized access options. The St Mary River Wilderness Lodge is available on a limited basis for private gatherings and corporate meetings in both summer and winter.

Summer adventures include both front and back country horse trips, photo safaris, hiking, and rafting. Calamity Creek Outfitters also guide a limited number of flyfishing clients on the St. Mary River to some of the best wild trout fishing in North America.

Winter adventures include back country ski touring, cross country ski photo safaris, and snow shoeing. The Lodge and End of the Road Camp are available for rental for snowmobilers. The Lodge, End of the Road Camp, and the Hot Springs Camp are available for rental to touring and cross country skiers.
